Water softener questions answered
How often does a Dualflo need salt?
A typical family home gets through a pair of block salt packs every four to eight weeks. The lid lifts so you see the level at a glance. We supply the salt and top up the unit at your annual boiler service.
Does a water softener affect water pressure?
A Dualflo is built for mains-pressure homes and its twin tanks keep flow steady while one side regenerates. Any pressure drop is small and rarely noticed. We check your incoming flow and pressure on the day and size the pipework to suit.
Is softened water safe for a combi boiler?
Yes. Modern combi, system and conventional boilers are all fine on softened water, and most manufacturers recommend it in hard water areas because scale is what shortens a boiler's life. We confirm the make and model when we visit.
How much does a water softener cost to install?
Dualflo supply and fit starts from £995 across Surrey and South London. A separate hard water drinking tap is from £175. The final figure is confirmed on site once we have seen your pipework and where the unit will sit. CAF Heating is not VAT registered, so no VAT is added.
How long does the installation take?
Most installations take half a day. We fit the unit, connect the drain and overflow, add the bypass valve, set the hardness and run the first regeneration before we leave.
